There are truces and friendships starting up all over Bollywood. The most recent duo stepping on the friendship boat is Asin and Sonam Kapoor. After Salman decided to call it a truce with Shah Rukh, and Aishwarya became friends anew with Sonam Kapoor, this one is the new friendship doing the rounds as the grapevine suggests.
Both the actresses have been seen chatting and bonding at parties, and spending time at each other’s houses. Asin is a newcomer to Mumbai and she is glad to have found a friend in Sonam. She has also spoken freely about her kinship with Anil Kapoor’s daughter in a recent interview.
Sonam’s friendship is a stable base for Asin as she is also new in Bollywood and does not know the workings of the industry. Sonam’s father being an A-list actor, she has been involved in the glamorous world of Bollywood since a very young age. Asin truly believes that actresses can be friends and combat rivalry.
Asin was working on The 19th Step which appears to be shelved now as veteran actor Kamal Hassan has walked out on the project. She was seen working very hard for the role and was very angry about the cancellation of the movie for now. Looks like she will find a friendly shoulder to cry on with Sonam.
I am happy to learn that like Kajol, Sonam Kapoor is also a book worm., Often, in between shoots she would get engrossed in the latest novel that she is reading. Good habit. I appreciate that all the more because I am an avid reader. I just learnt that she was asking her followers on Twitter for suggestions on which book to read next and no wonder she is being flooded with suggestions.

I just read something funny. When they asked Sonam would be comfortable in a bikini on screen she said she wears bikini in real life. She said she is comfortable in any dress - angarkhas, salwar-kameez, bandana, jeans, skirts, gunjee – whatever it takes. If the character I play is on the beach – the correct gear would have to be a bikini. (squeals away naughtily).” Wow. Wearing a bikini in real life and wearing it on-screen is different. Do you think Sonam has the figure to flaunt a beach wear on screen?
We all know Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor would be doing a film together under the Karan Johar banner and Punit Malhotra would direct the film. After much thought someone in the unit suggested the name of the flick – I don’t believe in Love Stories. Interesting name! Studying the chemistry that ran between them in the Filmfare photo shoots, we would love to believe the film would Fly High!
Sonam says she is deeply enmeshed in the character of Ayesha where she plays a modern city girl. The theme is adapted from Jane Austen’s novel Emma who yearns for a Darcy by her side. Same with Sonam. She wistfully has a Darcy on her mind. Like Jane Austen’s women Emma is not a typical woman and Ayesha follows suit. The heroes however are all stereo typed and so are the romances.

I want to do films that I like and lead my life in my own way,” said the actress who debuted opposite another star child Ranbir Kapoor in 2007.
“People never treated me different when I was young. I never attended the fancy schools in Mumbai. My mother kept me away from the industry. My dad once came to school and he was advised not to do that again,” added Sonam.

It was meant to be a chilled-out brunch for the celebs on a Sunday afternoon. But L'Oreal's newest brand ambassador Sonam Kapoor unwittingly turned up the heat with a comment on Aishwarya Rai at the star-studded do organised by the cosmetic giant.
It was falsely reported earlier that Sonam Kapoor had blundered at the event calling Aishwarya a representative of 'a different generation'
But the Saawariya girl said that she felt honored to be on the same brand platform as Aishwarya saying: "I am glad to be an ambassador for the brand that Aishwarya is also associated with. I will never reach that level of success at which Aishwarya is today, but being part of the same brand family feels great
"The misrepresented reports on the Internet that L'Oreal Paris would replace Aishwarya Rai with Sonam Kapoor are completely wrong and we are shocked at what has been written," said a spokesperson from the beauty company in India.
About Aishwarya, Sonam said: "She is an extremely beautiful woman and I have always looked up to her. Both of us have worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I feel fortunate that I had the opportunity to work with her husband Abhishek in Delhi-6. She is an absolute success and I would be happy if my career gets even ten percent of what she has achieved," said Sonam.
Sonam added: "I am shocked. Anything that I have said has been placed out of context and completely misinterpreted and I deeply regret any hurt that might have been caused to her. I have the utmost admiration for her and her career. She represents the young , modern, beautiful Indian woman with an incredible talent ."

During the media interaction an excited Sonam said that she has been a huge fan of Imran Khan after watching Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. She continued, “I met him for the first time at the premiere of his film Jaane tu… and we have been in touch ever since.” When we asked her whom she considered as the most gorgeous man in the industry between her debut film actor Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan, she smiled and said, “Imran is the most handsome man I have ever met. He’s gorgeous. Ranbir is a close friend he’s charming. Actually both are hot.”

While there have been many screen adaptations in Hindi and Punjabi of legendary romances like Heer-Ranjha, Laila-Majnu and Sohni-Mahiwal, so far no prominent film in Hindi is based on the Mirza-Sahibaan love story. And it's probably because of the complicated nature of their relationship.
According to sources, the idea came to Rakeysh during the making of Delhi-6.
"Rakeysh would address Sonam as 'Bittu', the character she played in Delhi-6. Then suddenly one day he started calling Sonam 'Sahibaan'. At first Sonam was baffled by this new name from Rakeysh who would pamper her to no end. But as the historical perspective and the literary antecedents of the character began to seep in, Sonam grew excited about the project and began to pester Rakeysh about the project," said the source. For the actress, who is at the moment busy playing the Delhi socialite's version in Ayesha, which is based on Jane Austen's Emma, this would be the first occasion to do a costume drama. The fact that Sonam had was dressed in elaborate costumes in her debut Saawariya gave Rakeysh the idea that his 'Bittu' could indeed be his 'Sahibaan'.
It's not yet known who will play Sahibaan's lover, Mirza. But rumours have it thatAbhishek Bachchan will play the role.
Confirming that Mirza-Sahibaan is indeed in the pipeline, Rakeysh Mehra said, "But, I still have to get down to writing it."
About Mirza Sahibaan
Mirza and Sahibaan were cousins and childhood playmates who fell in love with each other. When Sahibaan was promised to another suitor, she sent a message to Mirza asking him to rescue her, which he did on her wedding day. After travelling for some time, the couple decided to rest for some time. However, when Sahibaan's brothers learnt that the couple has eloped, they went in search for her. When Mirza was asleep, Sahiban feared that Mirza would kill her brothers.
So she quietly took Mirza's quiver and hung it on a branch, out of his reach. When her brothers caught up with them, Sahibaan woke up Mirza who reached for his quiver. But before that one of her brothers' arrows hit him. Before dying, Mirza looked accusingly at Sahibaan and said, "Bura kitoyee Sahibaan, mera turkish tangiya jand!" Which means: Sahibaan, you did a terrible thing by hanging the quiver away from my reach! A sobbing Sahibaan threw herself over Mirza's body to cover him from being injured further. She too died.

Interestingly, in this day and age of the Internet and e-mail, Sonam received the good news from the friendly neighbourhood postman who dropped a letter from the magazine at the Kapoor’s JVPD residence.
“Selective young talents are being featured here. I attribute this little achievement to the India Shining movement which the world is so high on now. And also because I am Anil Kapoor’s daughter,” said the actress whose classic beauty was one of the reasons the magazine selected her.
This is the first time an Indian talent has been acknowledged in a western trade platform. “It’s very encouraging for youngsters like me and a great platform for any actor,” said Sonam.
Her own Gen Next idol is Natalie Portman, the Israeli-American actress of the Star Wars prequel trilogy and other films like Closer, Where The Heart Is. “The way she has handled her life and career fascinates me. She is intelligent, talks her mind and is socially very conscious. I totally connect with her,” said Sonam who someday hopes to work with Hollywood directors like Martin Scorcese, Sam Mendes, Pedro Almodovar, David Fincher, Mike Nicholas and Woody Allen.
“I am open to offers from world cinema. I will accept any script which has a substantial role for me from any part of the world. It could be in French, Spanish, English or any other language,” said the actress eagerly. Meanwhile, the Hollywood magazine call is not her biggest birthday gift. “My most precious gift is that my family is together on my birthday after a long time, so it’s really special,” she revealed. Celebrations are at home after which Sonam will be leaving for an international awards function.

I would love to see the film Luck badly. It has Sonam and Imran in it and they look an awesome pair.
