T-Series acquires music rights of Kites and Action Replay

There is no doubt that one of the biggest players in the music industry is T-Series. Music of most of the recent hit films' has been released on T-Series label and even in the future T-Series has a promising line up with Blue, 3 Idiots in its kitty.
Now T-Series has gone ahead and bagged the music rights of two more biggies - namely Rakesh Roshan's Kites and Vipul Shah's Action Replay. While Action Replay stars Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles, Kites (directed by Anurag Basu) stars Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori and Kangna in principal roles.
By bagging the music rights of these two eagerly awaited films, T-Series has yet again stamped its dominance in the music industry.

Brazilian beauty Bruna Abdullah, actresses Rupali Ganguly, Nauheed Cyrusi and VJ Anushka Manchanda are all ga-ga over Akshay Kumar.
No, they don't have a crush on him, but say the Bollywood star was a "motivating and inspiring" host for the second edition of adventure reality show "Khatron Ke Khiladi - Level 2".
All of them are participants on the show and feel Akshay motivated them to push their limits to accomplish tasks and often eased a tough situation by cracking jokes.
"Akshay was the best host possible for this show. If I wasn't able to do a task easily, he used to motivate me. Even if any of us backed out of a task, he would give us plenty of pep talk and used to ask us to push our limits. He was a super teacher," Rupali Ganguly, who was earlier seen on reality show "Big Boss", told IANS over phone from Mumbai.
"Khatron Ke Khiladi - Level 2" has 13 celebrity women, including Mandira Bedi, Shweta Salve, Rosa Catalano, Sushma Reddy, Carol Gracias and Shonali Nagrani among others and each of them has a male partner and they compete with each other to win Rs.5 million as prize money.
The show was shot in Cape Town and will air on Colors in September.
Nauheed Cyrusi, best remembered as the "Piya basanti re" girl, says Akshay was a constant support system for her.
"I knew that Akshay Kumar, the big star, was going to host the show. I didn't know what to expect from him because I'd never met him before. But when I met him, he was so real. He helped me a great deal and was super approachable," said Nauheed.
"He was a complete support system for all of us there. In a task, the last few seconds are very crucial and it was then that he really encouraged each of us. He used to say 'Come on! Come on' and that was motivating," she added.
For Brazilian beauty Bruna Abdullah, who was seen in an item number in Anubhav Sinha's "Cash", Akshay was an inspiration.
"He (Akshay) was wonderful. He would do the stunts himself first and show us the safest way to perform them. He didn't let us give up on tasks easily at all and used to say that we won't ever get a chance to put ourselves through those stunts again," said Bruna, who Akshay teasingly referred to as 'Bru'.
"He was also extra sensitive to Rosa and me as we didn't understand much of Hindi. So he would go out of his way to clear our doubts," she added.
VJ and singer Anushka was also all praise for the 41-year-old actor.
"Akshay was really funny. He used to talk at random and eased out the most difficult tasks for us. He would tell us this is the best chance to do crazy things. At times, he would be serious and warn us if a certain task was tough. He would say 'This is not a laughing matter' to caution us," she said.
Said Shonali, a former supermodel: "Initially Akshay was very strict but gradually he became extremely supportive. He not only encouraged us but also helped us with strategies to strengthen our confidence levels. He always stood by us and gave us a pep talk whenever we were down. Nobody better than Akshay Kumar as a host for the show."
Actress Nethra Raghuraman had won the first season of the show, which was aired last year.
The first promo of 'Blue' to be unveiled with 'Kaminey' next week
The coming weeks will witness the release of some hugely-anticipated films. The first promo of WANTED has met with tremendous response, with the aam junta greeting the promo with rare enthusiasm. This writer is confident that the first promo of Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision's BLUE, directed by Anthony D'Souza, will also be welcomed with whistles and claps. In fact, the first promo will be unveiled on 14th August with KAMINEY.
While on BLUE, a section of the industry feels that the film won't make it in Diwali since the actors have yet to dub for the film and also A.R. Rahman has not recorded the background score yet. It's far from true, since Akshay Kumar has already completed his dubbing, while Sanju and Katrina are expected to dub in the forthcoming week.
Also, the maestro, Rahman, has started recording the background score in Chennai. Sure, the CG work will take time, but the makers are 100% sure that BLUE will hit the screens on the scheduled date, on 16th October. That should put an end to all speculation vis-Ã -vis the release date of this biggie.
Akshay Is Moving To Kaminey Territory
Looks like Akshay Kumar is moving away from his mindless commercial films and looking to do something substantial and meaningful. He is keen to work with Vishal Bhardwaj.
Everyone loves the promos and we are all excited about Kaminey. Akshay Kumar is no exception. Not only is he looking forward to Kaminey, he also wants to work with Vishal Bhardwaj in the near future.
Akshay and Vishal met recently before Akshay jetted off to London to shoot Housefull. Vishal narrated a script to him and he liked it.
Vishal, however, is not a frivolous and opportunistic director who wants to cash in on Akshay’s popularity. He wanted to work with Akshay even before he made Maqbool. Akshay wasn’t such a big star then but had proved his acting prowess in films like Hera Pheri. In fact, for Irrfan Khan's role, Vishal had first thought of Akki for the lead. Who would have thought?
Akshay said that working with a director of Vishal’s calibre would be a step forward for him. He said that his films are real yet very entertaining.
Vishal isn’t the only critically acclaimed director that Khiladi Kumar wants to work with. Love Aaj Kal director Imtiaz Ali is also on his list. He saw the film in London and was impressed with the performances.
If reports are to be believed, Shahid and Vishal came to blows in the latter’s office and aren’t really on talking terms. The bone of contention is that Vishal said that Shahid would be a better actor if he paid less attention to his hair and muscles. He isn’t even happy with the way Shahid is promoting the film.
So even if Shahid doesn’t do Vishal’s next film, there is already a long line of A-listers lined up to work with the hatke director. Saif and Kareena want to be part of The Departed remake while Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar are keen to work with him.
Vishal has all of them eating out of his hands. He's making a killing in the film industry with success after success. Kaminey is touted to keep him at the top of the order.
Akshay Kumar All Set To Play The Lead In Vishal Bhardwaj’s Next
Mumbai: A gifted taskmaster, who has enriched Bollywood with his movie-making skills treating audiences to his subtle yet power-packed flicks like ‘Omkara’ and ‘Maqbool’, Vishal Bhardwaj is on top of the wish list of several top-notch actors.
The director whose film ‘Kaminey’ is all set to hit theaters has now caught the fancy of Akshay Kumar. And if things go as planned then ‘Khiladi Kumar’ will be next seen playing the lead in magic weaver Bhardwaj’s upcoming venture.
And it’s not only Akshay, who is inclined to work with Bhardwaj. If sources are to be believed then the admiration is mutual, in fact, it was Bhardwaj who had been trying to work with Akshay even before he planned ‘Maqbool’.
Confirming the news, Akshay told a news daily, “Vishal did come to me and we’ve spoken. Let’s see what happens. I’d love to work with him. His films are so real yet so entertaining. ‘Kaminey’ is looking good.”
As to whether a film with Bhardwaj, be any different than Akki’s usual choice of films, the actor said, “I don’t believe in (differentiating) between commercial and off beat cinema. I also don’t think we can compartmentalise films into good or bad films. What works at the Box-Office is a good film. What gets rejected is obviously not good enough.”
Well, with his recent potboilers being blasted by critics we are sure Bhardwaj will be able to give the actor a meaningful film to fall back on.

Then it seems Rohit completely dropped the idea of making this film. He then worked on his own script and prepared his own set up for this film starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham in the lead. Apparently, he took this project to Studio 18 but they refused to go ahead with it because of Akshay Kumar’s high price demand and John Abraham’s mega fee hike post back to back successes of Dostana and New York.
But finally Rohit got his dream debut project fulfilled when he approached another corporate biggie third time around. Eros International gave nod to his proposal and it will now be made under their banner. This film is a romantic comedy and will feature Akki-John playing pole dancers in a strip club. They had last worked together in 2005’s comic hit Garam Masala.

Akshay Kumar's gallant nature was revealed in London when his "Housefull" co-star Deepika Paudkone was laid up with a bout of malaria.
He not only made sure Deepika was looked after, but also persuaded her to stay away from shooting.
While Deepika was resting, alternative scenes that didn't require her were shot.
"I'm recovering. I was bedridden for three days. And yes, I did return to the set on Saturday. I had to shoot. But I'm not sure whether it was the wisest of decisions, considering it was malaria," Deepika told IANS from London.
Akshay and Deepika earlier teamed up for "Chandni Chowk To China", which turned out to be a box office dud. But the film's failure hasn't affected their friendship.
"I'm lucky to be surrounded by gallant men. Whether it's my dad, Ranbir (Kapoor), Akshay, Shah Rukh Khan or any of my co-stars, I haven't so far encountered any ill-behaved men," said Deepika whose next release is "Love Aaj Kal".
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, "Love Aaj Kal" hits the screens Friday. And Saif Ali Khan, who plays Deepika's cynical love interest in the romantic saga, also gets high marks from Deepika, though she admits they aren't close friends.
In the movie, Saif plays a guy who doesn't believe in romantic love whereas Deepika is a die-hard romantic both in the film and in real life.
"He (Saif) also believes in love and realises it when he can't do without the girl. So I guess there's a romantic in all of us. It just needs to be tapped. But you need to experience that journey from disbelief to love, like I have in real life.
"So many times I advice people on their love life. I can always tell the difference between those who understand and don't understand the value of true love," she said.

Will Katrina Kaif be the Queen of Singh is Kinng 2?
We all know that Vipul Shah is all set to come up with a sequel of Singh Is Kinng very soon. But very few of us are aware that he is planning to direct the film this time. For now the producer is busy with his Action Replay. Our khabroo reporter informs, “He is very excited with the sequel of Singh Is Kinng and is just waiting for his schedule of Action Replay to get over. Alongside, he was talking to Akki about directing SIK 2 himself.”
“As we all know even Akki is eager to start with the film. The only question that now remains- will Katrina be part of it. Well the production is planning to approach her, but nothing has been finalized as of now,” adds the source.

Rahul Bose replaced by Akshay Kumar in Pyar ka Side Effects sequel
Remember Pyar Ka Side Effects? Well, bad news for me. My favorite actor, at least one of my favorite Rahul Bose is not playing Siddharth Bose in the film. Don’t ask my why but the Director and Pritish Nandy under whose banner the sequel is being made feels - “When we planned the sequel, Akshay Kumar was the first and only choice. He has that roguish charm which can take Sid’s role further, not only through one sequel but also a couple of others.”
The producer has met Akshay and got his green signal. “He loves the script and we’ve agreed to work together. We just need to work out some basic details like dates and finances,” adds Pritish.
I don’t think Akshay would be a better replacement, at least not for Rahul Bose.
Yes, Akshay has that roguish charm, but he does not have the comedy migled with innocence that Rahul has, sorry folks.

Akshay Kumar has worked in a number of films with Katrina Kaif, he glamorous Babe rocking the Tinsel Town. So when they were recently shooting for Priyadarshan’s De Dhana Dhan in the rains, and Katrina was in a flimsy chiffon with a very strappy blouse, Akshay knew it would cause trouble for Katrina soon. And soon enough she was feeling cold with teeth chattering and then the Knight in Armour sprang to action. He ordered all the air-condtioners to be put off and he wrapped his co actor and himself in towels very soon.All Katrina could feel was how Akshay treated her like a baby – TLC, or tender loving care, as we may call it.

Akshay Kumar is thrilled and upset at the same time. Thrilled, because his new movie, KAMBAKKHT ISHQ, has taken an incredible start from East to West and from North to South.
Post JUMBO, CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA and 8 x 10 TASVEER, Akshay had become everyone's favorite punching bag. Once considered the blue-eyed boy of one and all, Akshay was dropped like a hot potato after a string of flops.
"I was disillusioned. I would be lying if I said that the flops didn't affect me. They did, especially the failure of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA. I was heart-broken, crest-fallen, " Akshay informs me. He's just back from a whirlwind tour (Puerto Rico, London, Delhi, now Mumbai) and has barely slept since the past few days.
"I was extremely nervous. I couldn't sleep. What if KAMBAKKHT ISHQ doesn't open well? That thought kept bothering me, " Akshay admits. But now that the film has fetched a superb start, the actor is feeling relieved. "Aaj raat achchi neend aayegi, " he flashes his charismatic smile, when he's told that the film should have a record-breaking opening weekend.
But Akshay's upset too -- and it shows -- when he feels that there's a strategy to pull him down. The negative sms-es during the paid previews and the subsequent messages ridiculing his film have hurt him.
"Why do we resort to such things? Aren't we happy that the audiences are back? NEW YORK attracted crowds, now KAMBAKKHT ISHQ has. LUCK, LOVE AAJ KAL and KAMINEY would also bring crowds. The volume of business is only increasing. But by resorting to such things, we are only harming ourselves, " Akshay says.
Akshay Kumar plans a film for Michael Jackson?
The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has many fans in India and one such big fan is Bollywood star Akshay Kumar . The actor is learnt to be planning a film based on music and dance as a tribute to the late pop icon.
Akshay, who has ventured into film production with his company Hari Om Productions, is planning a musical film that would be his way to pay homage to Michael Jackson, as reported by a daily. Akshay still remembers his days in Bangkok when he used to do cleaning job in a hotel while listening to Jackson’s hit songs like ‘Beat It’ and ‘Billy Jean’.
The actor was also part of the crowd in Mumbai to hear MJ during his 1996 India tour. Akshay confesses that he was a small-time actor at that time and, just like many others, he too was a frenzied fan jumping and hopping to get a glimpse of the pop king at the concert.

Akshay Kumar plays a Hollywood stuntman in Kambakkht Ishq and what better way to promote the film than by doing a daring stunt live in front of his fans.
That was the literal promotional stunt Akki pulled while promoting his latest release in New Delhi on Thursday evening.
Dressed in a black body hugging full-sleeved T-shirt, jeans, sports shoes and shades, the actor jumped off a 60-foot high elevated structure using safety cables. But before taking the leap, he played his comic self with the fans and the media at DLF place in Saket.
Perched 60 feet high, the superstar interacted with media.
“Hi media. Won't you like to ask me anything right now. I've done almost 120 films and I haven't seen such a pc (press conference). Go on, ask what you want. I won't jump before you do,” he said.
Before doing the stunt, Akshay also warned his fans not to imitate stunts they see in films or live.
“Stunts are amazing but please don't do them... it's way too dangerous. Three months ago, my cousin was trying one of my glass breaking stunts from the film and he ended up with a lot of stitches. Even we (actors) have to undergo a lot of rehearsals before doing them,” he insisted before jumping off the ledge.
