I don’t want any celebrations until Amar Singhji recovers.
Once he returns to Delhi, I’ll celebrate my birthday with him. I heard from the grapevine here that the unit of No Problem is planning a small get-together for my birthday. But when I asked them they said there is no party. My friends are flying down though. Paresh is from Chicago. I’ve known him for the last 25 years. We’ve grown up together. Then there is Mac from Los Angeles, another old and dear friend. Then there is Imran Ismail who is already here in South Africa. These are three of my best friends who will be here on my birthday.
Have you invited your sisters?
Yes, I have. The day I turn 50 is important for me. And I’d like my family to be near me. That’s the way my parents would’ve wanted it. I wish they could be here. But I guess my sisters are busy with their own lives. No matter what misunderstandings we had, I’d like to sort them out on my 50th birthday. It’s sad they can’t be here. But I’m sure they’ve more important things to do.
It’s very difficult to imagine Sanju Baba being 50.
At heart I’m still Baba. But when I look into the mirror, it’s a reality. And I do feel 50, but not old. I’ve been in the film industry for so long and it’s been a long inning. In the last 18 years, I’ve been fighting for my freedom and I feel the burden of the struggle now. I want to walk into any consulate and get my visa. I want my passport to be with me. I want to visit any country I want. Most importantly, I want the court cases to end. I want to be free.
Your mentor, Amar Singh, is recovering?
He’s not my mentor. He’s my brother and a part of my family. Amar Singhji stands by his friends and we should stand by our friends. As soon as I get my visa, I’ll fly down to Singapore to spend a couple of days with him. I’ve been betrayed by my so-called friends many times. But this time, I feel I’ve found a true friend. I’ve known him for 16 years. He has always stood by me and seen me through the worst situations in my life.
Why do films for emotional reasons?
I can’t be ruthlessly professional. But I have given up doing films for emotional reasons.
What about Shortkut?
Anil Kapoor and I go back a long way. He’s an old colleague and he just called me and asked me to do it. Look, you got to be there for people. May be nobody was there for me, but what do? I’m like that only. Family and close friends do matter. I know.
One wish on your birthday?
Freedom. Otherwise the biggest gift God has given me is my wife Maanyata. She has stood by me and supported me unconditionally. I’m very lucky to have her by my side.
What about a baby?
If that happens, my happiness would be complete.

The shoot of ‘All The Best’ completed in record time

Ajay Devgan’s ‘All The Best-Fun Begins’ started its shoot on 7th May and the crew has finished the shooting within a record time of about two months in mid July. The film, produced by Ajay Devgan Films and directed by Rohit Shetty is all set for a Diwali release on 16th October 2009.
The movie has been shot in various locales in Mumbai and Goa and their last schedule was in Hyderabad. This is set to be a comedy starring Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu & Mugdha Godse in the lead. The music is by Pritam Chakraborty, lyrics are by Kumar and the film is co-produced by Kumar Mangat.

Soham Shah’s Luck, an inspiration from The Condemned?
The film Luck by Soham Shah has an uncanny similarity with The Condemned. The story line is interesting. Luck is the story of “the mafia kingpin Musa (Sanjay Dutt) who has one obsession to change the betting industry.Here he controls the lives of Imran Khan, Shruti Hassan, Mithun, Ravi Kissen and Danny Denzongpa as they battle each other out in various tasks set by Musa.” Soham, it seems has taken the theme from the main story making it relevant for the Indian viewers.

All the Best To Have A Mega Budget Song!
Rohith Shetty may have hit a jackpot with his last film Golmaal Returns and looks like he is ready to do it again. After spending a whooping 6 crore for a highly stylized song Tha Kar Ke in Golamaal Retunrs he will now be making another mega budget song for Ajay Devgan’s film ‘All the Best’.
The song that features Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, and Mughda Godse has been shot in Goa over a period of 6 days. It took Rohith around 1700 people from Mumbai and about 300 Goan locals to create this song. However the director known for his flamboyant sequences in Golamaal Returns did not intend to break his own record.
We think in times of recession this certainly is an indulgence, however with friends like Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt as a part of the film, the super budget may just be justified.
