KAMINEY WON'T RELEASE IN MUMBAI
Kaminey fans have reason to frown as the multiplexes in Mumbai will be shut for three days because of swine flu. Even the Delhi premiere has been cancelled.
A source told, “Kaminey is not releasing this week and will incur a loss of 15 crores almost if it gets postponed. It is only in Mumbai that it is not releasing. Cinema halls will be closed because of the swine flu scare. The producers are very worried because they wanted to cash in on the long weekend as Friday is Gokulashtmi and Saturday is Independence Day. Also, multiplexes were running paid previews on Thursday night. Multiplexes are expected to open on Sunday or Monday.”
The spokesperson of Kaminey said, “Everything is on hold right now because of the multiplexes being shut down. We are not even sure of the press show.”
According to a reliable source from the film, the Delhi premiere has been cancelled and a screening with the cast has been arranged in its place.
When we called up Cinemax, an executive said, “We have no update about tomorrow. We are booking tickets for today and tomorrow’s shows. If the shows get cancelled then the patrons will get their money back.”
Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV confirms Kaminey will not release in Mumbai on Friday. "There is immense buzz and anticipation around the release of Kaminey which is clearly one of the most awaited films of the year. There is already a heavy rush for Paid Previews of the film nationwide and in US/ UK & Dubai. We are going ahead with the release of the film this Friday across the country and worldwide in 1200 screens. This will not include the markets of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai following the directive given by the government. We look forward to release the film in these regions as soon as the cinemas are given permission to re-open. Being a corporate we are fully insured for the 2 day delay we are facing in these markets."
StarBoxOffice is awfully disappointed that Kaminey may not release in Mumbai this week and empathizes with everyone who will have to deal with boredom this weekend.

Priyanka Chopra has got as many as 21,770 followers on social networking site Twitter within a month, overtaking Mallika Sherawat and Gul Panag. And the credit goes to her regular updates.
The 27-year-old actress, who is currently down with fever, catches up with her 'Tweeps' (Twitter friends) while in the car, on a shoot or when she is lounging around. The list of her 21,770 followers exceeds those of Mallika Sherawat and Gul Panag, who are equally in love with the site, said a source close to the actress.
While Gul has 12,917 people following her updates, Mallika lags behind with 11,199.
Priyanka has also cashed in on her online popularity with "The 'Kaminey' Contest" on her webpage. The contest requires interested participants to answer three questions regarding the movie.
The winners will get a personally autographed audio CD of the movie, in which Priyanka has teamed up with Shahid Kapoor.

Imagine Mallika Sherawat, Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu as the three feisty babes kicking the butts of baddies. This desi version of Charlie’s Angels may or may not be made. But the casting is surely spot on.

However, after watching the film, it has been decided that the film will indeed have an A certificate. Vishal’s request for a U/A certificate has fallen on deaf ears. Vishal now has to decide if he wants to go ahead and challenge the censor board’s decision, or be happy with the A certificate.”
The objections arose mainly due to the dark theme of the film. Another source from the production house, UTV, said, “There are some cuts in the film. The abusive language is nothing to be worried about as it is marginal. Even the cuts have been made to be politically correct in certain places. When Vishal refused to either go for chopping his scenes or accept an ‘A’ certificate, the revising committee with Sharmila Tagore as the Chairperson watched it with a panel of members in Delhi yesterday afternoon. The committee, however, gave an ‘A’ certificate again.

As the film is based on the underworld, violence and darkness is but naturally felt in the movie.
Well, the ball is in Vishal’s court now and he has to decide whether he will move to the higher courts or settle down with the censor board’s decision.

Mugdha Godse celebrates her 27th birthday

Mugdha Godse had won rave reviews for ‘Fahsion’ and she had also won a warm and close friendship with her ‘Fashion’ co-star Priyanka Chopra on the sets of the movie. So, it did not come as a surprise when Priyanka was seen giggling and enjoying her self on Sunday on the celebration of Mugdha’s 27th birthday.
Also present were her ‘Jail’ co-star Neil Nitin Muskesh and director Madhur Bhandarkar. Neil and Mugdha were seen enjoying each other’s company. Mugdha Godse really got drunk at the party.

Shahid Kapur’s mother Neelima Azim is planning a movie, that too without her son and is keen to rope in Priyanka Chopra with whom Shahid has been romantically linked. Neelima was a known TV actress of 80s and is a qualified dancer too. Now, after so many years, she wants to venture into direction and has an interesting script.
It was reported that she approached Emraan Hashmi, but the actor turned down the film. Now, Neelima wants Priyanka for a significant role in the movie. According to her, Priyanka suits the character best.
Neelima also knows the fact that Priyanka is a top Bollywood actress and getting her on board wouldn’t be easy. She is also well aware that a lot depends on a good male co-star with whom Priyanka will be interested to work. Neelima even clears that if she is unable to get a top actor, she won’t even expect Priyanka to do her film.
And when questioned by a daily about Priyanka-Shahid’s current equation, that can spoil her spirit to sign the actress in the first place, Neelima answered, “I get along very well with Priyanka. It’s a very professional, but warm relationship.”

We caught up with the lady to find out what’s on her mind a few hours before the Awards night kicks off.

The Filmfare Awards are here, what are you wearing for the red carpet?
I have a couple of options, but am still to make up my mind. I might ultimately go for an Alberta Ferretti gown, but then again, it may change at the last moment (smiles)!
Are you expecting to bag the Best actress award?
I don’t want to expect anything because if you attend an Awards function with expectations, there are chances that you might get disappointed. I fully trust Filmfare and am sure they’ll recognize the best talent.
You have done an equally fabulous job in Dostana , (which has been nominated for Best Film), so didn’t you expect two nominations in the Best actress category?
There is always one film for which your outstanding performance is being noticed and you get an award nomination. Fashion was written that way, with a real-life touch to it. Dostana , on the other hand, was a light-hearted flick full of comic scenes, so the two really catered to different genres. But I’m really happy that Dostana has been nominated for the Best Film category... let’s hope it wins the award!
Who do you see as the biggest competition in the Best Actress category?
You see, all of them are big competitors in their own way. You have evergreen heroines like Kajol and Aishwarya, who have been in the industry for so long and then fresh faces Anouska and Asin are equally good. So, it’s going to be really touch and go!
But how justified is it to have debut actresses and legends compete for the same award?
I think the amount of years count when it comes to awards. Kajol and Ash have been there for almost 15 years now and Anoushka and Asin have just started in Bollywood, though Asin has done a few South films. I am just five years old in the industry, so it’s not really a reason to decide who the best is. It depends on your journey in Bollywood and the honesty and hard work that you have given to it.
How do you feel about your co-star Kangana Ranaut being nominated for the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in Fashion ?
I really hope she gets the award because it has been one of the finest performances of the year. Kangana did complete justice to her role and it should be applauded with an award.
If you get the award, who is the first person you would like to thank?
First and foremost, it has to be UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar for making a film like Fashion . Especially Madhur for believing in a character like Meghna Mathur, the role for which I am being nominated, because I really didn’t think it would be so big!

Priyanka Chopra spends a quiet birthday
One of the most sought after Bollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra turned 27 this Saturday but there not no birthday bash for this girl who has always had a quiet birthday with friends and family since the age of 12.
“It’s always been a home celebration. My family brings in surprises for me and I like it that way because I really get worried when it comes to organizing parties,” she laughs.
“I’m not a big party person and I don’t like throwing parties at all. So this time a lot of my family members have decided to fly down to be with me. It’s likely to be a day spent doing nothing in particular - just hanging out with the people who love me and want to be around me to make my day special. That’s all,” she added.
Talking about her birthday resolutions, Piggy Chops said, “I don’t have any specific plan, but hope for peace of mind and well being. This year has been extremely good for me, and I would like to thank God for it.”
With many awaited films at present, viz., Vishal Bharadwaj’s “Kaminey” with Shahid Kapoor, Ashutosh Gowariker’s “What’s Your Rashee?”, and Yash Raj Films’ “Pyaar Impossible” along with Uday Chopra and Dino Morea, Priynaka Chopra says that she does not believe much in setting goals.
“I’ve never set any goals for myself. I’ve always been destiny’s child and destiny has always looked after me. I think someone up there always manages my life and does what’s best for me. So I just leave it up to Him. I just work hard at what he sends my way,” she said.
